LIVE AN AUTHENTIC LIFE

Too many of us live out our lives as if we are living for the approval of others.
Live an authentic life, you only get one chance.

Honesty for Our Country

More and more stories questioning honesty have been making headlines daily. Ones on political candidates and Olympic athletes, just to name a few, have recently have been in news headlines. Many are asking why. When you reach a high of a level of success, why would your integrity ever come into in question? The “Who is telling the truth?” stories of finger pointing and leaked documents. Careers, accomplishments, and gold medals can all be tarnished in an instant when a person’s integrity is on the line. For some, it can mean high stakes losses and entire careers coming to an end.

These headlines have reminded me of a small example in my own life. When, as a young teen, I was often tempted to succumbed to peer pressure, but even as a teen I valued integrity. For many of us our integrity is what we live for. I had never in my life have I ever felt wrongdoing is acceptable for any reason. Have we come to a point in our culture were a lack of integrity is acceptable?

As they say, we often judge our own faults harsher than others judge us. This is not necessarily the case for politicians or public figures. Since when has wrongdoing become a daily headline almost everyday? Is this where we are headed as a country? The consequences of our actions should be preventing these high ranking individuals from acting in a manner which leads the world to be covering stories.

Dishonestly isn’t in line with who we really are as Americans. As a country founded on Judeo-Christian values, it saddens us.  We have created a free country, but an honest one. To do as we please to express out own individually is very much part of our culture, but within limits.

"God in God we trust" in honesty and goodness or so I thought? Since when have the consequences of our actions not stopped mainstream Americans from breaking the law? Are we becoming a morally corrupt society which just doesn't care anymore?

As a Judeo-Christian culture built into the fabric of our being, this level of integrity above all else we hold with highest regard.

As we each strive to live our lives honestly as Americans from all different backgrounds and cultures, our examples will inspire others to do the same and provide a positive influence in our communities.

Every noble work is bound to face problems and obstacles. It is important to check your goal and motivation thoroughly. One should be very truthful, honest, and reasonable. One's actions should be good for others, and for oneself as well. Once a positive goal is chosen, you should decide to pursue it all the way to the end. Even if it is not realized, at least there will be no regret. ~ Dalai Lama
